Fashion accessory: Fishnet thigh highs are hot!

Fishnet thigh highs
Fishnet stockings have been around for decades. Once considered avant garde, one variation on this sexy wardrobe staple, fishnet thigh highs are back in the fashion news, gaining particular traction with younger women, and, presumably, men too.
The original fishnet stockings could only be found in black, and required the use of a garter belt to hold them up. “A garter whaaat?”, you say … a garter belt is a fabric contraption that fastens around your waist, with straps that hang down and attach to the stocking top, preventing the stocking from falling down around your ankles. To my taste, such a contraption is uncomfortable – even irritating.
Fortunately, today's fishnet thigh highs no longer require the garter belt, although there's nothing precluding its use, if that's what you prefer. 'Modern' fishnet stockings have a band at the top, usually made of a nylon-spandex material, that acts like elastic, holding the stockings securely on your leg.
Should you doubt that these popular stockings are a fashion 'must', just take a look on a Google image search for 'fishnet thigh highs' to see what you're missing. At prices between $5-$10 for many brands, this is one way to stretch your wardrobe dollars, something we all welcome! Unlike the 60s versions, you'll find an abundance of color and style choices.
One of the most popular of the fishnet thigh highs is a 'Christmas edition' style, typically in shades befitting the season, often with shiny red or pink bows at the top, giving you a definitely festive look! Others come with lace tops, ribbon tops, and/or back seams. Fishnet thigh highs are also available in plus sizes.
As for color choices, the rainbow, and your preference, is the only limit! There are shimmery stockings with metallic threads which make a stylish statement any day of the week, as well as stockings sporting glitter on the finish of the fabric. Got a Day-Glo look? Sure.
Even back in the 'radical' 60s, fishnet stockings were only generally worn as an accessory to an out-on-the-town costume. Today, that's all changed. Women are wearing these with jeans and other dress-down casual clothing. You can use this inexpensive fashion accessory in a mix-and-match strategy that can create dozens of possibilities for your wardrobe. For example, a thigh-high stocking of the glittery persuasion, paired with metallic pumps, a pair of jeans and a soft, oversized sweater makes a much more glitzy statement than jeans, a tee and sneakers could ever hope to attain! Definitely nice enough for a movie date or a stop at a bistro!
I urge you to take a look at what's out there in the fishnet thigh highs market. It's just one of the better ways to make the most of your wardrobe – in high style!
